Our very own Rich Coleman has yet to formally announce his social housing strategy, and yet social housing groups are already panicking over it, says Public Eye Online.
The funny thing is (as Sean reports) that Rich and Michele are on vacation. It's his first significant time off since the 2001 election. And if you know Rich, you know how it kills him to go away and rest. So what happens on day two of the holiday? A story like this. It figures.
Anyway, on the housing strategy... I have heard bits and pieces from the Minister, and it sounds very intelligent, well-reasoned, and should result in the most significant creation of social housing in the history of the province. Remember, long before he was an MLA or Minister, Rich worked on social housing projects with the Kinsmen. He knows this file inside and out. He was the critic for housing during the dark days of NDP rule. He asked the Premier for it. He has taken his time on it--even though he is more of a "let's do it" than "let's talk about it" guy. So let's at least see the plan before we criticize it.
