Coleman BBQ: the press release
Rich Coleman welcomed more than 450 supporters to his annual volunteer appreciation barbecue Sunday and capped off the festivities by announcing that he would again run for the BC Liberals in 2009.
Coleman, the Minister of Forests and Range, has served Fort Langley-Aldergrove as its MLA since 1996. "In 2009, the BC Liberal name on the ballot in Fort Langley-Aldergrove will be Coleman," he said. "Our work isn't done. Our biggest challenge in the next three years is to fight complacency. It is vital that we don't lose our focus."
The annual barbecue was held at Roy and Dixie Jacobson's Carousel Farm in Milner. During his speech, Coleman gave a preview of his housing strategy that will be officially released later this month. He also recapped his work on the softwood lumber deal and mountain pine beetle file.
Coleman also introduced Tony Burke, executive director of the BC Professional Firefighters' Burn Fund, and told the crowd that his ministry is working with Burke on a special project.
"Tony and his team are working toward a special building to help burn survivors in Vancouver," Coleman said. "They need land, and we have that opportunity... we're going to put this thing together for the people of BC."
Earlier in the day, the membership of the Fort Langley-Aldergrove BC Liberal riding association met to elect a new executive:
President - Sheryl Strongitharm
Past President - John Cameron
Vice President - Jordan Bateman
Secretary - Tara Tomlinson
Treasurer - Roberta Nicholls
Constitution and Policy Chair - Patrick Selinger
