Langley Township Council Meeting Report--Monday Afternoon, June 15, 2009
Notes from Langley Township Council's special meeting, Monday afternoon, June 15, 2009. Coun. Ward was away, as he was attending a funeral.
We voted unanimously (moved by Fox, seconded by Ferguson) to endorse the Economic Development Committee's 2009 workplan. EDC will be busy doing some of the preliminary work leading into an update of our economic development strategy.
Council voted unanimously (moved by Dornan, seconded by Bateman) to approve a $2,500 grant for the Langley Farmers Market Society.
We voted unanimously (moved by Bateman, seconded by Ferguson) to endorse a $1 million grant application to the federal government's Western Economic Diversification Fund toward a soccer-softball artificial turf field in Willoughby Community Park, and another $130,000 application for bike trails and a batting cage at Aldergrove Athletic Park.
Council voted unanimously (moved by Long, seconded by Fox) to receive the Golden Ears Bridge emergency response protocol.
We voted unanimously (moved by Bateman, seconded by Dornan) to approve the 2008 statement of financial information and attach it to the annual report.
In separate motions, Council voted unanimously to approve the Agricultural Advisory Committee's annual report and mandate review. We then voted unanimously to approve points 2 through 12 of their work plan (moved by Bateman, seconded by Fox). A Richter motion to approve point 1 (To allow the AAC "To review ALR applications and provide recommendations prior to Council decisions") did not receive a seconder. Council also voted unanimously (moved by Long, seconded by Bateman) to approve the establishment of a 2009 Farm Tour task force. See their minutes here.
